Godskitchen Boombox by THIRST @ S.I.C.

The world renowned Godskitchen Boombox has finally reached the grounds of Malaysia!! Held at Sepang International Circuit, this event featured one of the world's top dance music jocks such as Sander Van Doorn , Richard Durand and DJ Chuckie.

I managed to catch DJ Chuckie in action when I arrived. Having 'in-demand' choice of songs, a signature head-banging style, and great interaction with the fans, it is no wonder why he is one of my top favourite mix-tape DJ.

The rain started to pour heavily, and when you just thought that you might need some shelter, the rain stops! It went on exactly ;ike that for probably 5 or more times that night until it started to seem like they had sprinklers installed somewhere. However, getting a little bit wet from the rain at a rave is a plus point as it brings the temperature down and somehow makes everyone a little bit crazier =).

Up next on the decks was surprisingly Sander Van Doorn. Having looking forward to him as the main act of the night, everyone present wondered why he came up on stage earlier. Anyways, Sander's set was just "so-so" for me because it started off low after having DJ Chuckie set the pace that high and already had the crowd going. Having to bring the party mood back to zero was a blow. However I really enjoyed the ending half of it compared to the beginning.

Richard Durand came on as the main act right after. Continuing with Sander's pace was a brilliant choice. The crowd went wild when he played mind blowing tracks from Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, and many more. All-in-all, having Richard Durand as the main act was a good call, despite whatever happened.

I have a question, why do girls wear high heels and dresses to an outdoor rave? I mean if you're going to have VIP, Cabana or proper seats then go on right ahead. But having to stand all night and get wet under the rain in an outfit you put on when you go to a club, not a very good idea. But hey, whatever makes you happy and comfortable.

Okay having put that aside, about the event. The Boombox set up was seriously jaw dropping. Having everything fully projected (even the borders) was just a whole new experience. I had a friend who asked, "Are the dancers real or projected as well?", the answer for that is YES they are real dancers.

The live screens on both sides of the Boombox however could be bigger or perhaps there should be more screens for those far behind. The sound quality, sigh, could have been much better. Having the standard "Malaysian technical problems", it was loud and soft, and loud again, and soft.......... Even the bass was not hard enough for those at the back (I seriously pity you) compared to the front area. I mean c'mon it's freaking Godskitchen!! Where is that extra equipment?? Also, was looking forward to a spectacular laser show but was let down with none.

All in all, it was a great experience despite all those little things and it is The Best outdoor rave party Malaysia has held this year. To all those who miss it, you really did miss it *pokes fire*.

Verdict :  8/10
